For anyone who may be interested, I have started a new blog: Oh, My AICNheads!!. The point of which is to slowly but surely archive the animations I've produced over the years for Ain't-It-Cool-News .
Like this one:
I have a ton of material socked away, and I will be doing my best to update it every Friday. Do drop by.
I recently had a blast from the past, when I was contacted by Paul Dini, for whom I had done some animation a LONG time ago.
He wanted to know if I could re-purpose a few of the shorts I had done for him, featuring his wicked-awesome Christmas creation, Jingle Belle, so that they could be posted on YouTube.
Please remember, these were made in the early days of my relationship with Flash, and at the time, I only had a mouse to draw with. But regardless of MY shortcomings, they're still funny, and Jing is a character who really should be EVERYWHERE by now especially at Christmas time (something Paul addresses in a comment on the blog entry above).
So for goodness' sake, go seek out Paul's Jingle Belle comic books, if you don't have them already.
Here's the final version of the poster I did for Butt-Numb-a-Thon 9.
A very respectful homage to the amazing work of Drew Struzan, which I ripped off wholesale and cold-bloodedly, learning a crazy amount in the process.
I was so psyched to see this printed full-size at 41x27. It turned out really well, I think: one of those rare times that I feel really satisfied with a final product. Always room for improvement, obviously, but I really didn't expect it to come out as well as it did.
Thanks to everyone in Austin who went out of their way to tell me what they thought of it.
And thanks, naturally, to Harry himself, for being a bastard and handing me such a massive and seemingly unachievable challenge. I didn't know for sure if I was up to it, but somehow I think HE did.
